Chicken 65 Masala

Chicken 65 Masala

This was the another recipe that was shared along with the Daal Paratha and they did compliment each other well …. Till date the chicken 65 that I made was always dry and this recipe had extra masala and which did add extra taste to the dish especially the sliced onions and tomato paste both did their magic to the dish … I am planning to try the same recipe with prawns and with mutton

I made this chicken for dinner and it was liked by kids , next day the remaining chicken was served with sambar and rice , it actually tasted better than fresh

Ingredients

Marination

  • Chicken – 1 kg( cut into small pieces )
  • Chilly powder – 1 tsp ( you can add more )
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger and Garlic paste – 1 tbsp ( recipe asked for only garlic , I used both )
  • Curd – 3/4 cup
  • Salt to taste

For the Masala

  • Sliced Onion – 2
  • Tomato paste – 1 cup
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Green chilly – 2 – 3 ( you can use more )
  • Curry leaves- a handful
  • Oyster sauce- 2 tbsp(I didn’t use )
  • Soya sauce 2 tsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves

Directions

  1. Marinate the chicken in the marination for 30 minutes , pour around 1/2 cup water and cook on low heat till the chicken is cooked through.Make sure that a little gravy is retained and it does not completely dry.
  2. Take out the chicken pieces and shallow fry them in 1 tbsp oil.Do not completely brown them.Set aside the chicken.
  3. In the same pan, add 2 tbsp oil and saute the sliced onions well.Leave it aside.
  4. Take a heavy bottomed pan, add butter and the finely chopped green chilly and curry leaves. Keep sauting them till it gets a little crispy.
  5. Lower the heat, add the tomato paste, then the oyster sauce, soya sauce and mix well , cook for 5 minutes .
  6. Add a little water and then the gravy retained after cooking chicken, check the seasoning.
  7. Add the fried chicken and onions , mix well till the chicken is really coated well.
  8. Close the lid and keep on the lowest flame for 5 minutes , add coriander leaves .(open lid and give a stir in between 2 times).
  9. Chicken 65 is ready to be served

Notes:

1. If you want lesser gravy, the onions can be avoided. In that case, tomato paste can be reduced a little.

2. Vegetarians can substitute with cauliflower. In veg dish you can avoid onions .

I took 35 minutes to make this dish

Happy cooking
