I still remember first time when I made sprouts at home , I was so proud of myself ,it was like an achievement …….I slowly started learning recipes with sprouts and best is tossing it with olive oil and veggies or adding in soups……
Some information about sprouts
Sprouts are excellent sources of essential vitamins minerals, digestible energy , amino acids and proteins. These nutrients are essential for human health. Sprouts can be either eaten raw or cooked
- Whole green gram – 1 cup
- Wash the gram in water for 3-4 times. Add water and cover it up to 1 inch above the gram, Cover the bowl with a lid and soak the gram overnight.
- Next day discard the excess water , Cover and keep the bowl for 2 days. You can check after a day and the sprouts appear . After 2 days you will see beautiful sprouts from the green gram . ( you can sprinkle little water if it’s too dry. )
- The second method is to sprout the gram in a kitchen napkin or cloth.
Soak the gram overnight. The next day, drain the water from the soaked gram , Wet a clean cloth or kitchen napkin with water and squeeze the excess water from it. Take this damp cloth and keep the soaked green gram in the cloth. Tighten this cloth and keep this cloth with the gram in it covered in a container for 1 or 2 days.
Note : you can make sprouts with chickpea,soya bean ,pea, lentils
