Instant Kesar Kalakhand ( Instant saffron Milk Fudge )

This recipe was shared by my ex student Haya’s mom Jasila , she sent me the link from a blog and I was amazed as it was very simple but never got time to make …this weekend we decided to watch a amazing Tamil movie called Kakkai muttai ( Crow’s egg) and my brother in law asked if there was any sweet at home and I got a reason to make this sweet , I started cooking in microwave oven and after 6 minutes , got impatient as wanted to watch the movie so put it in non stick pan and cooked it for another few minutes … The sweet and movie both were enjoyed by all and my brother in law Umar Bh loved the texture of the sweet ( I wanted him taste the sweet first and because of me he burnt his hand as this Kalakhand was very hot ) next day I took the same sweet to my sister in law house and this time I cooked entirely in the microwave oven

When I made my sister in law Anees deedi to taste it , she said its one the best sweet that I have ever made … Every one loved this sweet for its taste and also for the way it can be easily made with only 3 ingredients

You can cook in the microwave oven or cook in the non stick pan or cook half time in the micro oven and transfer it into non stick to finish the cooking and the colour of this kalakhand will depend on the amount time you cook it in the oven


  • Milkmaid – 1 tin
  • Curd – 3 tbsp
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Saffron – few strands


  1. In a deep bottom microwave oven bowl add curd and whisk well then add milk maid . Put it in the microwave oven and cook for 2 minutes
  2. Take it out , mix well then back again into the oven
    And cook for 2 minutes , the mixture will be curdled and very hot , now add ghee and saffron and cook for another 2 minutes .
  3. The mixture will start to thicken , take it out , mix well and cook again for another 2 minutes and serve hot .

Note : the time taken to cook this sweet depends on the oven it takes 8 to 10 minutes
