Mushroom and Bell pepper fried Rice

You can add any vegetable of your choice other than these two vegetables

This recipe caught my eye as the cooking method was little different that is in the pan Vah chef told to add chopped garlic , ginger and onions and then butter as this avoids burning of butter , I loved this tip and it worked plus another thing that was different was the size of mushroom that he chopped was big that made easy for Rasha ( she doesn’t like mushroom ) to remove them easily from the rice and enjoy it .This was first time I added tomato ketchup in fried rice and it did enhance the taste of the dish plus bell peppers did add extra taste to this rice

It was enjoyed by everyone especially my kids ….They loved the flavour of this rice , I liked this recipe as it can be made in few minutes if you have left over rice at home ….I would say adding butter did give a unique taste to the rice


  • Cooked Rice – 2 cups
  • Finely chopped Garlic – 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped Ginger – 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped Onions – 1
  • Finely chopped Green chillies – 3
  • Butter – 4 tbsp
  • Mushroom – 1 cup ( cut into quarters )
  • Red & green bell peppers – 1 cup ( cut into small squares )
  • MSG or ajinomoto – a pinch ( I didn’t use )
  • Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp
  • Soya Sauce – 1 tsp
  • Spring Onions – 1/4 cup ( I didn’t have it at home )
  • Lime juice – 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste


  1. Heat a pan and add chopped garlic, ginger, onions and sauté them for a minute . Add chopped green chillies, then add butter, little salt and sauté well for a minute.Cook in high flame so that onions become translucent .
  2. Add mushroom pieces and sauté it well with the onions. Add red and green color bell peppers, mix well until the veggies are slightly cooked. When the mushrooms are just cooked, add in the cooked rice, MSG or ajinomoto, pepper powder, tomato ketchup, and soya sauce. Toss well.
  3. Add green of spring onions (finely chopped),lime juice and toss once. Serve hot with any type of side dish

    I took 20 minutes to make this rice
