White Sauce and Cream Cheese Mixed Vegetable Sandwich

White Sauce and Cream Cheese Mixed Vegetable Sandwich

Search for simple and different sandwiches is never ending for me and this sandwich was born from my ever famous Russian cutlet which is enjoyed by everyone ,so when I had to make sandwiches and pack for my parents and in laws who were going to India and prefer home cooked food to the flight one …. I was confident that it will taste good but I had to make it vegetarian , so to add more flavour , added cream cheese and the filling tasted very nice

Kids liked it and told the filling was very nice but felt very sad when mom called from airport and told , that the sandwich was very nice and was not enough and I should have kept few more … Sometimes even after getting compliments , we feel bad and I felt the same with this sandwich

  • All purpose flour – 11/2 tbsp
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Mixed vegetables – 1/2 cup or more (I used finely chopped beans , carrot and corn )
  • Cream cheese – 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Chili flakes – 1/4 tsp
  • Oil -1 tsp ( to sauté the vegetables )
  • Bread slices – as required plus
  • Extra butter – 1 tsp ( optional ) to spread on top of the bread

  1. In a pan add oil and sauté the vegetables in high flame for 2 minutes , add little salt and keep aside
  2. In another pan add butter and flour and roast it till the raw smell goes ( 3 to 5 minutes ) , Add warm milk and stir with a balloon whisk as it prevents lumps.
  3. Make thick sauce , add salt , pepper and chili flakes , remove from fire and add sautéed vegetables and cream cheese .Mix well
  4. Take the bread slices , spread the mixture , cover with another slice of bread and spread little butter on top and toast for 5 minutes

Note : you can add tomato ketchup and cheese slices to enhance the flavour of the sandwich

I took 20 minutes to make this sandwich

Happy cooking
